Buildings

Before the alliance with Jouef and the beginning of the HO railway buildings, Playcraft marketed a small range of kits to approximately 'O' gauge (7mm/ft) scale called 'Playtown'.

However, the original buildings used on the railway publicity circa 1960/61 were made by the Canadian firm of Aurora and were HO scale (3.5mm/ft). These had also been marketed by Playcraft for a number of years. Some of them are featured in the early Playcraft catalogues but again appeared to be a very limited range.

Once the railway was underway Playcraft had an arrangement with the Pola Company in West Germany, who were an established plastic model kit manufacture. They made numerous models in HO scale (3.5mm/ft) for Playcraft which were sold in both kit form and ready-assembled. The manufacturer however was not identified and the kits only carried the words 'Made in Western Germany' on the box and underneath. Although they were included in the main catalogues they also had a couple of mini-catalogues of their own.

After the end of Playcraft Jouef continued to market the Pola kits in their own boxes but after 1966 they marketed their own range.

Pola continued making a number of the kits for a long time afterwards
